This proposal was developed by residents that are interested in creating a dog park here in Watervliet. This is ONLY a proposal at this time. If you are interested in participating in working on it becoming a reality, please email me at Cpatrice@nycap.rr.com Special thanks to all the members of the committee that participated.
Volunteers came to the aid to paint all the park benches in the city that wasn't painted and kept up for years.
This lack of park care is a prime example of how things were ignored until the Parks Committee brought it to their attention and insisted that they be replaced at Red's field
This plaque was in the garage for a few years and never reinstalled, but due to the efforts of a volunteer it was put back after being told it couldn't be.
Again, the Parks Committee worked to improve the entrance of the City's Senior Building by planting new shrubs and flowers. Our municipal buildings should be a model and not embarrassment to the residents.
All you got to do is ask and residents will drop everything and lend a helping hand to keep our city looking great.
Hard work never hurt anyone and these volunteers worked on improving our entrance to the city.
Today we thanked 3 members of our community at Brotherhood Park for their donations to purchase 4 ADA swings, one in each of our city parks.
These swings were badly needed for those with disability issues. This only came to light when we established a Parks Committee and one of the members wanted to know how we were addressing disability needs in our parks, only to find out we had no real accommodations.
The committee raised money through various means, with a majority from the donation of Jay Halayko former owner of Schuyler Bakery. We were going to purchase one swing at a time due to their high purchase cost so again through the suggestion of one of our park members we went to Facebook to see what park the first swing should be installed. That’s when Chris McCabe from CM Fox Reality, stepped up and said he would purchase another swing, and Chris then received a commitment from Steve Haita from Gus’s Hot Dogs and Drew Rentz of the Purple Pub to purchase the other 3 swings. We were in shock and amazed and just couldn’t believe the overwhelming support to help out our children.
I have felt all along that the more minds in the mix the better the outcome and we couldn’t be where we are today with the dedication and interest the Parks committee has made to this community.
There is much more we need to accomplish to get our parks in better shape but we certainly came a long way. We started out installing mulch around the swings and slides that didn’t have any material there for several years. We are always looking for help and residents to volunteer. If you are interested, please send me an email at Cpatrice@nycap.rr.com
So, when you see Chris, Steve and Drew please be sure to thank them for their support.
